For this stunning Utah engagement session, Kayla, Steven and I woke up at the crack of dawn and met on the shores of a gorgeous frozen lake in Provo, Utah. We arrived to the most perfect pastel sky, that then reflected on the frozen lake water, creating a beautiful array of soft colors. We started shooting around 7:15 am, and were able to capture the all the best parts of a sunrise; from the pastel sky, to golden rays of sunshine.

Frozen ice chunks gathered around the edges of the rocks, made from the lake tide rising and falling, which made for some really breath-taking photos. The texture added was out of this world, and something you can only capture at this time of year.

We even had a couple of airplanes fly overhead while we were shooting. That combined with the soft pink skies created a fun, picturesque image.

The large rocks that barricaded the lake were gorgeous. We definitely took advantage of them while shooting.

As the sun rose, the light began to change and made for a more crisp and airy image.

Then BOOM! Right before ending the session, the sun shone over the mountains and shed some golden rays on us. These sun flares made for some of my favorite images.
